Friday 6th March 11 am
'Dead Interesting Women':Friars Bush Tour.
Special outing for this tour in honour of International Women's Day. The tour focuses on women's stories relating to what's thought to be Belfasts oldest Christian burial ground and Friars Bush has a wealth of women's stories regarding their role in the death and burial rituals. On this tour you'll hear about
The woman who wrote over forty novels during a fifty year writing career
The woman who sat on her husbands grave to stop him being exhumed
And many others!
The stories of the women connected to Friars Bush Graveyard reminds us that history is made not only by wealthy businessmen and merchants but also by their sisters, wives and daughters.

Saturday 7th March 11am
"Well Behaved Women (of a certain age) Seldom Make History":Women of Belfast Walking Tour

The woman who didn't even start her writing career until she was 46, going on to write eleven novels
The woman who campaigned against slavery until she was at least 89 years of age
The woman who didn't get her first Hollywood film role until the age of 53, continuing her movie career for another twenty four years
And many others!
So if you remember Rubik's cubes, leg warmers and Walkmans you'll enjoy this tour about women who continued (or even just started) to blaze a trail in the latter half of their life
